A Moment of Gratitude from Hairy Highlander

You may have seen it on our socials - and now it’s officially in the news.
We’re incredibly proud (and still slightly stunned) to share that Hairy Highlander has been featured in The Times, The Daily Mail and The Press & Journal for our recent collaboration with Balmoral Castle.
This marks a huge moment for us, not just because we’ve launched a bespoke grooming range exclusively for His Majesty The King’s Balmoral Estate, but because it reflects how far we’ve come.
“From redundancy to royalty” - as The Press & Journal put it - captures our journey in one line. A leap of faith that began with losing a job, and led to crafting luxury beard oils fit for a King.
What started as a wild idea in the hills around Aberdeenshire - just me, my wife, and a deep love for nature - has grown into something we never imagined. Our exclusive Balmoral collection is now available at the estate and online via their shop, handcrafted using wild Bog Myrtle foraged directly from the King’s 50,000-acre Highland retreat.
It’s a plant that Highlanders have long used as a natural midge repellent and skin soother, and it’s at the heart of our new scents: Laird & Chieftain
"In a statement, Balmoral Castle and Estate describes the products as ‘Expertly crafted in the Highlands by Hairy Highlander" - Daily Mail. To see those words in print, means more than we can say.
This journey has had its share of sleepless nights and “what have we done” moments. But we never compromised on ingredients, values, or quality, and we’re so proud that it’s resonated with others.
If you’ve supported us along the way, bought an oil, shared a post, or just cheered us on - thank you. We’re grateful beyond words.
And to Balmoral, thank you for trusting a family-run business from Aberdeenshire to represent the Highlands through scent and soil.
Here’s to the next chapter - and to beards fit for Kings (and the rest of us too).
