One of the Best Hidden Things to See in The Cairngorms, Aberdeenshire

The Burn O’ Vat walk in Aberdeenshire is one of the most unique places to visit in the Cairngorms National Park and one of the most unusual things to do near Ballater.

A quiet woodland trail leads you through pine and birch, deeper into the forest.

Then the rock closes in and everything changes!

What Is the Burn O’ Vat in Aberdeenshire?

The Burn O' Vat is a natural granite hollow, carved out thousands of years ago by glacial meltwater.

Surrounded by forest, with the nearby loch Kinord and quiet woodland trails of the Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve, it sits hidden within one of the most scenic parts of Aberdeenshire.

You have to step through a narrow rock passage, almost like a hidden cave, before it suddenly opens up into something completely different.

A chamber of smooth stone with walls rising around you as if you have stepped inside the landscape itself.
